Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the sourcing, installation, validation, preventative maintenance, and operations support of all operations equipment systems. This position will focus on efficiency gains for manufacturing simplification and industry leading equipment uptime and availability through preventative maintenance programs and in-house spare part availability and tracking. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with internal team members from Quality, Facilities and Operations to optimize final product yields and exceed customer expectations.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to company Policies and Standard Operating Procedures
- Facility layout of equipment, materials and workspaces for maximum efficiency
- Develop and maintain validation protocols and documentation (IQ, OQ, PQ) focused on equipment installation and operation
- Identify and maintain equipment spare parts inventory and planning
- Create and maintain a Preventative Maintenance program focused on short term and long term equipment uptime and availability for production use
- Key participant in the in the identification, justification, procurement, validation and implementation of capital equipment investments
- Working closely with facilities and operations on equipment mechanical and electrical requirements and other facilities needs to reduce or eliminate equipment downtime
- Support quality in creation and maintenance of product Master Batch Records for accurate materials and product traceability
- Support company systems to accurately collect information based on material usage, inspection methods, inventory, storage, shipping and personnel training
- Provides training of manufacturing procedures for operations staff
- This position will support both the animal and human product processing focused on equipment preventative maintenance and uptime
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing or Mechanical, or equivalent, relevant work experience (Min. 5 years) preferred
- Previous experience in the food, medical, supplement or manufacturing industries preferred
- Significant experience with FDA, GMP, and ISO environment preferred
- Significant experience with Liquid Filling, Dry Powder Mixing and Filling, Confectionary, Bottling and Labelling and Encapsulation systems preferred
- Experience in low volume/high complexity and low complexity/high volume production environments
- Working familiarity with SPC and process control methodologies
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to work with allergens as defined by the FDA (milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans)
Manager Responsibility:
- This position will have some hiring, training and supervisory responsibilities, and will be responsible for tasking and supervising indirect reporting personnel
Travel:
- Occasional overnight travel as required; should not exceed 20% of time
Work Authorization:
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
Physical Demands and Other Duties:
- The work requires physical demands with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials in the 10-50-pound range. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and high noise levels. Knowledge and implementation of safety practices and personal protective equipment is critical.
