The Role

The Timaru District Council is seeking TWO motivated and skilled individuals for the Mower / Spraying Operator roles in our newly created team. These hands-on roles offer the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our local environment by helping to keep our public space looking their best year-round!

As a Mower / Spraying Operator, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of lawns, gardens, and other greenspaces across the district. This includes operating a variety of powered equipment, such as ride-on mowers and tractors, to carry out mowing, edging, fertilising, and turf upkeep, as well as performing minor repairs when necessary.

Another key part of the role involves vegetation control using chemical spraying equipment. You will be responsible for the safe handling and application of chemicals. In addition to your mowing and spraying duties, you will assist with seasonal gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, fertilising, and supporting minor irrigation or tree maintenance work.

Safety is a top priority. You will be expected to follow all relevant procedures, particularly when working in areas accessible to the public.

To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in Mowing and spraying operations, and be confident operating ride-on mowers, tractors, and spraying equipment. If you are safety-conscious and enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a permanent role and offers 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this role is $28.07 - $28.+1. Check out a copy of the position description here. For further information please email us at jobs@timdc.govt.nz.
