Job Description
Responsibilities
• Building databases through various tasks like DBMS installation, parameters configuration, connection settings and configuring Cluster and Backup systems.
• Providing 24x7 responsive support for the customers through daily monitoring, trouble shooting and performance tuning of the database systems
• Build Database instances in clustered and non-clustered mode for company's needs.
• Handle upgrades, migrations, backups, recovery, replications etc
• Optimize slow queries, server resources and database parameters as necessary
• Work closely with the application team for database design, tuning and maintenance activities.
• Automate, standardize, and visualize daily operations and processes to maximize productivity.
Minimum Qualifications
• 3+ years' experience with Linux operation
• 3+ years' experience in MySQL Database technology
• Complex Problem-Solving skills in primarily MySQL databases
• 2+ years' experience with one or more Scripting language: Shell script, Python, or Ruby
• Deep understanding and experience with clustering techniques and high availability solutions (Galera, PXC, InnoDB cluster, MHA, Golden Gate)
• Knowledge of MariaDB and Postgres is an added advantage
• Knowledge of Cassandra and Couchbase (NoSQL DB) is an added advantage
• Expertise in Database Administration, Capacity Planning, Disaster Recovery, Security and Performance Tuning
• Good understanding of DevOps culture; CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins) and configuration management (Chef/Ansible) knowledge is an added advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong eagerness to learn new technologies
• Ability to effectively work with members living in different time zones
