About the Role
As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care on our Surgical Oncology Stepdown unit at The University of Miami Hospital. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive compassionate and individualized care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
Help patients with meals and feeding, ambulation, turning, and positioning.
Administer enemas, douches, and other treatments as ordered by medical staff.
Collect specimens, perform sugar and acetone urine testing, and provide post-mortem care when necessary.
Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
Maintain a safe and attractive environment for patients and staff.
Transport patients and equipment as needed.
Report patient conditions to assigned nurses to ensure accurate assessment and treatment.
Measure and record food and liquid intake and output, as well as check and record vital signs.
Assist patients with walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
Requirements
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Commitment to The University of Miami's core values.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
Proficiency in computer software, such as Microsoft Office.
