Title: Principal Development Infrastructure Officer, Permanent - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: $117,656.77 to $136,737.2 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

Strategic and Place Planning

Strategic and Place Planning develops sustainable land use and design strategies, policies and plans for Council’s diverse range of localities, including established urban areas, urban renewal activity centres, future growth areas, rural, and environmentally significant areas.

The Strategic and Place Planning Business Unit delivers the following services:

Strategic Land-Use Planning and Planning Proposal assessment
Land Use Policy Development
Urban Land Release
Heritage and Structure Planning
Place Planning and Urban Design
Infrastructure Contributions Planning and administration

Key projects our team is currently working on include Place Plans for Manly and Mona Vale, a Structure Plan for Brookvale centre, a Conservation Zones review, preparation of new comprehensive Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan, Infrastructure Contributions Plan for the Frenchs Forest town centre, a Thematic heritage study, and a review of Council’s Affordable Housing Policy.

Our Opportunity

The role is to coordinate and manage the Council's contributions plans and actively participate in the development and implementation of Voluntary Planning Agreements or Material Public Benefits/Works in Kind Agreements where required, that are integral to the coordination and delivery of projects in the Strategic and Place Planning Business Unit. Specifically, you will:

Provide strategic direction and advice to senior management and on Development Applications/Planning Proposal Applications in relation to infrastructure planning identified in Council’s contributions plans or Planning Agreements.
Monitor service delivery of infrastructure identified under Plans or Planning Agreements prepared under Part 7 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act.
Facilitate informed and collaborative decision-making in relation to Council’s development contributions plans through the Contributions Panel.

About You

With relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in areas of strategic and place planning, you will have attained a sound understanding of Local Government legislative frameworks. With exceptional communication skills, your ability to cultivate and foster effective stakeholder relationships internally and externally is crucial as is the ability to balance competing community and Council priorities.
