Summary
We are recruiting for a Project Manager with a focus on Engine & Compression (E&C) and Reliability solutions for our Systems, Software & Solutions team, based in Calgary. Spartan’s E&C solutions lead the industry in terms of emissions reduction and sustainability, and our Reliability solutions are a game-changer, helping our customers get the most out of their assets and avoid costly downtime.

The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously, in both E&C and Reliability. The Project Manager will work with technical experts, our automation programming experts, field service, the project team and lifecycle services team, providing leadership, support, knowledge, and experience to execute and deliver solutions to our customers.


This role allows the incumbent the challenge of providing engineered/manufactured products and solutions for a very fast-paced industry. Reporting to the Operations Manager – Machinery Performance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of engineering design, configuration, integration, procurement, manufacturing, commissioning, and start-up services.

Role and Responsibilities
You will become an industry expert in providing solutions in:
Programmable Logical Controllers (PLC): REMVue and Sixnet RTU (Isagraf), DeltaV, Allen-Bradley (RS500/5000 & Studio5000), Schneider Proface HMI (GP-ProEX) and PanelView HMI (FT View Studio)
Altronic Shutdown & Control Systems
Ignition systems and their components
Air Fuel Ratio controllers
Support gas compression control with a focus on products and solutions sold through our Machinery Performance: Engine & Compression Solutions division (E&C) with a focus on in-house design, development, and implementation of control and safety systems.
Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, functionality, and customer expectations
Project risk management, change management and contract management
Work with technical leads to ensure an appropriate technical solution is provided, and ensuring quality assurance through the process
Work with customers and Spartan’s engineers to understand and ensure compliance with all applicable customer engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements and methods of installation
Work with customers to ensure that emissions reduction and sustainability targets are achieved
Produce and manage schedules, status reports and other project management related documentation, as required by customers and Spartan operations
Drive the lifecycle of a project from handoff to delivery of a quality product/solution, delivered to the customer on time and on budget by:
Engaging with sales to add input to scope/budget/timeline to ensure a pending/won project is practical with relation to project execution lifecycle
Managing the engineering and design resources, working closely with the technical lead, to ensure project scope is met on time and to budget
Using knowledge and experience to drive the fabrication and engineering of manufactured assemblies including fuel trains, electrical systems, control panels, and integration of these components into a complete solution
Interfacing with manufacturing teams, outsourced vendors, and third-party contractors to produce a quality delivered solution
Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards for industrial mechanical and electrical scope
Work with project coordinators and procurement to setup projects, manage project changes, schedule fabrication, material delivery, and invoicing milestones
Work with lifecycle service coordinators to setup and manage field service work (commissioning and startup)
Manage change requests; evaluate impact, risk, change pace, and meet customer’s expected delivery and objectives
Maintain accurate project financial reporting including planning and forecasting, explaining variances to as sold and plan
Manage project documentation and design input requirements from customers, with assistance from the project engineering and document control teams
Collaborate with the Operations Manager and team leads to ensure project resource needs are met, and to drive internal process improvements
Participate in our 7/24 on call rotation
Schedule and coordinate Project Execution, Delivery, Deployment, On-Site start-up and commissioning services for our E&C products and solutions ( including Fisher valves & regulators,
Rosemount transmitters, vibration sensors, I2P’s, DVC’s, VFD’s, DeltaV systems)
Provide telephone customer support on E&C products and solutions
Build lasting relationships with Internal and external customers
Qualifications and Skills
B.Sc. in Engineering, Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Technologist Diploma, or Instrumentation Technologist Diploma
Experience with the following control systems / PLCs / RTUs / Solutions is an asset

DeltaV
Allen Bradley
ControlWave
Emerson/GE PLCs (VersaMax, RSTi, RX3i)
Experience with the following is an asset:
Programming / Software / Configuration experience - proven skill set that can be applied to various programming languages (i.e. RTU/PLC hardware/software, ladder logic, function block, structured text, and HMI configuration)
Oil and gas industry
Natural gas compression industry.
Control valves, shut-off valves
Instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, level transmitters)
Fire and Gas detectors
Interpreting P&IDs
Modbus configuration
Related process control systems
Maintenance and troubleshooting in a site / operations environment
Aptitude for prioritizing multiple tasks and managing multiple concurrent assignments
Exceptional communication skills and customer service experience and practices
Strong team player and customer oriented
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Safety conscious and able to complete applicable safety training (e.g. H2S Alive, CSTS, First Aid, etc.)
Willingness to travel; valid Class 5 driver license required
Entrepreneurial work ethic
Extensive and exceptional customer service practices
Proven organization and multi-tasking skills
