About the role
The Quality and Assurance Oversight Unit is responsible for internal monitoring and assurance within the CAA. This role sits within the Quality and Assurance Oversight team and plays a key part in delivering internal audit activities-an essential function that helps provide assurance to the Executive, Director, and Board that the CAA is effectively and efficiently delivering its safety and security responsibilities, in line with internal policies and procedures.
This 11-month fixed-term position, covering a parental leave period, is based at our Wellington Head Office with flexibility for Auckland location considered and reports to the Manager, Quality and Assurance Oversight. It offers a great opportunity to work across a wide range of aviation regulatory functions, helping to identify risk areas and improvement opportunities that support the CAA's continuous improvement in safety and security performance.
The salary band for the Advisor, Quality and Assurance starts at $+6,68+ to a maximum of $120,+41. Starting salaries are be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, as well as internal relativities.
What You'll Bring
You'll bring a strong foundation in quality and assurance, with the ability to support organisation-wide compliance with regulatory obligations. Your experience in risk-based decision-making, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement will enable you to identify and address areas of noncompliance. You will add significant value to the newly formed Quality Assurance team by helping to establish effective processes and foster a culture of excellence. Comfortable working collaboratively across specialist teams, you'll be confident in advising on risk and assurance matters that impact the organisation's overall performance and reputation.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to show:
Proven experience as an auditor, ideally within a regulatory or compliance-focused environment
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility across technical and operational teams
Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing high-level technical reports
Skilled in conducting risk assessments and causal investigations to identify system-level issues and support continuous improvement
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Experience in the aviation sector, particularly in a technical capacity, is highly desirable
