Part time (0.4FTE) fixed term role until 1st of December 2025 with the possibility of extension

Exciting role supporting research activities in a landmark public health research initiative

Base Salary $ 86,511 (pro rata) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Australian Type 1 Diabetes National Screening Pilot is a landmark public health research initiative for children. As a Research Data Assistant , you will contribute to the collection, management and analysis of research data to support high-quality, evidence-based outcomes across our projects. Working closely with the research team at the Charles Perkins Centre, as well as a national multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians and stakeholders, you will assist in the development of research protocols, support grant reporting and help drive the execution of key research activities.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting research activities that aim to transform early detection and care for type 1 diabetes in Australia.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

manage our research datasets, ensuring data integrity, quality, accuracy, accessibility and security

develop and implement data management plans in line with institutional, ethical, and funding body requirements

design, maintain and troubleshoot research databases or data capture systems, potentially including REDCap, Data Dissect, Qualtrics, Excel and bespoke platforms

support the planning and execution of data collection and undertake data queries and basic statistical analyses, under supervision of the Principal Investigator and biostatistician

contribute to the development of research protocols, grant applications, grant reporting and research publications

collaborate and provide ongoing communication with researchers, clinicians, students and other stakeholders, addressing concerns proactively and strengthening relationships

provide guidance on research data regulations, policies, and procedures, keeping projects aligned with standards

adhere to protocols, ethical and regulatory requirements and GCP guidelines for clinical trials.

About you

tertiary educated, health qualifications are highly regarded

sound knowledge of GCP guidelines, ethical and regulatory requirements and confidentiality/privacy laws in medical research

highly skilled in data analysis, management, interpretation and presenting findings in a clear manner

understanding of, or experience with, basic statistical concepts and techniques is advantageous, though not essential

demonstrated proficiency in range of computer applications, including Excel, research software (REDCap highly desirable) and statistical software (SPSS highly desirable)

meticulous attention to detail with high level organisational skills

proven ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team

excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
