ORGANISATION PROFILE

Reality Tours and Travel (RTT) is one half of a dynamic social enterprise that aims to raise awareness and resources to address social issues facing disadvantaged communities. The organisation is most well-known for its slum tours of Mumbai and Delhi, which highlight the small-scale industries and community spirit in its residential areas and dispel myths about the realities of urban slum life.

80% of the profits from the tours go to support the social work undertaken by its sister organisation Reality Gives (RGi) - our NGO that runs and supports educational and other projects to improve the lives of our communities.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The new recruit will be overall responsible for both RTT and RGi’s Accounts Departments in both Mumbai and Delhi, and elsewhere in the future when it expands to other locations. You will manage Accounts Managers and Executives in Mumbai and Delhi and coordinate with our external Accounts consultants to make sure that all internal and external accounting and legal compliances are adhered to. The role will also involve overseeing the basic HR functions of the organisations, including cooperating with our HR consultants, primarily to ensure that we are legally compliant in all areas.

It’s an exciting role and you need to be very meticulous with very high attention to detail. You need to bring a sense of passion and enjoyment to your work and be able to work well with people of all backgrounds.

The role is a long-term, salaried position. The successful candidate will be a key part of the organisations’ continued growth and development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

o In charge of the RTT/RGi Accounts Departments and its Teams in Mumbai and Delhi

o Overall responsible for the RTT/RGi financial records and accounts, both physical and online

o Overall responsible for RTT/RGi Tally accounts

o Overall responsible for RTT/RGi's compliance to accounting and legal matters

o Dealing with RTT/RGi government letters, enquiries and investigations

o Updating RTT/RGi Budgets during the year

o Monthly RTT/RGi Management Accounts

o Coordinating with our Accounts Consultants

o Creating and managing RTT/RGi MoUs with vehicle suppliers and others

o Ensuring RTT/RGi rental and other agreements are correct and up to date

o Reviewing RTT/RGi Bank Accounts

o Coordinating with our Accounts Consultants on GST compliances

o Coordinating with banking officials regarding any payments-related or other issues and developing relationships

o Reviewing vendor invoices for applicable TDS rates, completeness and accuracy for documentation and audit purposes

o Managing receivables and payables and periodic reconciliation of accounts and ledgers

o Managing and ensuring timely completion of audit work/income tax return filings and coordinating with the Auditor’s team

o Coordinating with consultants for timely submissions to Charity Commissioner, ROC, FCRA, PT, PF, ESIC or any other statutory filings

o Coordinating with Auditor/ Accounts Consultants for preparing FCRA financials and filing of FCRA returns

o Maintaining RTT/RGi Salaries files

o Overseeing and carrying out a wide range of other RTT/RGi accounts tasks

o HR Files and folders - Keep updated

o HR manual - Keep updated

o Defining Holidays List

o Overseeing HR processes related to Recruitment, Induction, Annual, Misconduct, Termination

o Creating and renewing Staff Contracts

o Advising HR consultants of new staff - registering them for PF/ESIC where applicable

o Liasing with external HR consultants on PF/ESIC/other queries

o Helping staff with Accounts/PF/ESIC/TDS and other queries

o Leaves register - Monitor for any staff that you line manage

o Identifying training needs - For any staff that you line manage

o Staff appraisals - Carry out for any staff that you line manage

SHARED/SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES

o Creating RTT/RGi Budgets at beginning of the year

o Creating and updating HR processes

o Salary structure

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

o You have at least 5 years experience working in an Accounts Department managing all aspects highlighted in this Job Description

o You are familiar with PF/ESIC and other HR issues

o You ideally have a chartered accountant qualification or are part qualified

o You have an exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets

o You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to prioritise a diverse and demanding workload

o You have strong attention to detail and you aspire to high standards

o You have very good interpersonal, spoken and writing abilities in English (Hindi essential, other regional languages helpful)

o You have Excellent IT knowledge including Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Gdrive etc

o You have experience managing people

o You are passionate about social business and helping underserved communities to access equitable opportunities and resources.

o You are willing to travel when required

o You love to ‘muck in’ and ‘get stuff done’

COMPENSATION

Circa INR 6.5 - 10 Lakhs CTC dependent on qualifications and experience.
