Senior Frontend Engineer

Key Responsibilities
● Architect and develop complex, production-grade React and Angular applications for retirement account management, contribution workflows, and investment portfolio interfaces.
● Lead performance optimization initiatives including code splitting, lazy loading, bundle size reduction, and runtime performance tuning to achieve sub-2-second page load times.
● Design and implement server-side rendering (SSR) and client-side rendering (CSR) strategies using Next.js, balancing SEO requirements, initial load performance, and user experience.
● Own state management architecture using Redux, Zustand, or React Context, establishing patterns for global state, async data handling, and cache management.
● Develop and maintain Node.js-based Backend for Frontend (BFF) services supporting optimized data aggregation and transformation for UI consumption.
● Implement comprehensive accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA) ensuring retirement platform usability for all customers including assistive technology users.
● Drive security best practices including XSS prevention, CSRF protection, secure authentication flows (OAuth2/OIDC), and CSP implementation.
● Design and implement data visualization components using Ag-Grid, D3.js, Recharts, and Chart.js for complex financial data presentation including account performance, contribution history, and asset allocation.
● Integrate real-time communication features using WebSockets and Socket.io for live market data updates and transaction notifications.
● Establish build toolchain excellence using Webpack, Vite, or Turbopack with optimized configurations for development experience and production performance.
● Lead GraphQL integration using Apollo Client including query optimization, cache strategies, and efficient data fetching patterns.
● Implement advanced data fetching strategies using React Query and SWR for server state management, optimistic updates, and background revalidation.
● Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, backend engineers, and compliance teams to deliver compliant, user-centric financial applications.
● Mentor junior and mid-level frontend engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
● Drive frontend testing strategy including unit tests (Jest, React Testing Library), integration tests, E2E tests (Cypress, Playwright), and visual regression testing.
● Champion secure coding practices and participate in security reviews to prevent vulnerabilities in customer-facing applications.
Required Skills and Experience
● 6-12 years of professional frontend development experience with progressive responsibility in architecting and delivering production applications.
● Expert-level proficiency in React (Hooks, Context, Suspense, Concurrent Features) with deep understanding of component lifecycle, reconciliation, and performance optimization.
● Strong experience with Angular (preferably Angular 12+) including RxJS, dependency injection, change detection strategies, and module architecture.
● Advanced TypeScript expertise including advanced types, generics, utility types, and strict type checking configurations.
● Production experience with Next.js including SSR, SSG, ISR, API routes, and deployment optimization strategies.
● Deep expertise in state management patterns and libraries: Redux (with Redux Toolkit), Zustand, React Context, or similar solutions.
● Proven experience implementing data fetching and caching strategies using React Query, SWR, or Apollo Client for GraphQL.
● Strong command of modern CSS including CSS-in-JS solutions (styled-components, Emotion), CSS modules, Tailwind CSS, or SCSS.
● Expertise in build toolchains including Webpack, Vite, ESBuild, or Turbopack with custom configuration experience.
● Production experience with data visualization libraries: Ag-Grid Community Edition, D3.js, Recharts, Chart.js, or similar frameworks.
● Hands-on experience with real-time communication using WebSockets, Socket.io, or Server-Sent Events.
● Strong understanding of web performance optimization including Core Web Vitals, lighthouse metrics, bundle analysis, and runtime profiling. Have implemented client side analytics.
● Deep knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA) with practical implementation experience using ARIA, semantic HTML, and keyboard navigation.
● Solid understanding of Node.js for building BFF services, API integration middleware, and server-side tooling.
● Experience with authentication and authorization patterns including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT validation, session management, and secure token storage.
● Strong grasp of frontend security including XSS prevention, CSRF protection, CSP implementation, secure cookie handling, and input sanitization.
● Proficiency with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
● Experience with testing frameworks: Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools.
