The People Legal Team provides legal support across the entire Woolworths New Zealand business. We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and adaptable Lawyer for a 12 month fixed term contract, primarily to support a number of key strategic projects. The role represents a superb opportunity to use your legal skills to provide strategic and risk balanced legal advice, and to collaborate with the broader Legal Services Team and Woolworths New Zealand leaders during a time of change and transformation.

This fixed-term role at Woolworths New Zealand offers a dynamic and engaging legal experience, where you'll provide expert counsel on critical employment matters, including collective bargaining and complex transformation projects. We seek a highly capable legal professional who not only possesses exceptional technical skills but also excels in building strong stakeholder relationships.


You'll demonstrate personal leadership, strategic thinking, and sound judgment, simplifying complex issues through clear communication. As a collaborative team player, you'll proactively manage legal risks, ensure effective communication, and provide pragmatic, business-aligned advice, contributing directly to key commercial decisions and anticipating future challenges. This is a senior role that will see you working closely with not only our leaders on the ground, here in New Zealand, but also with the wider legal centre of excellence in Australia.


What you’ll bring | Hei koha

We’re seeking a highly skilled and collaborative legal professional with a minimum of ten years post-qualification experience in New Zealand, gained within a reputable law firm or in-house setting. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Laws, exceptional communication skills, and proven expertise in navigating complex transformations and restructuring initiatives. You will be adept at prioritising tasks, demonstrate strong organisational abilities, and exhibit a genuine passion for team success while consistently seeking to improve working practices.
