The Senior Manager, Contracts will be supporting the contract needs for Loblaw Technology & Analytics, Supply Chain, and Global Sourcing and will lead a team of one Contract Manager and one Assistant Contract Manager, reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, IT. The primary responsibilities of the Senior Manager are to successfully negotiate complex major contracts such as Master Agreements, Statements of Work, Evaluation Agreements, License Agreements, Automation Agreements, and Amendments, draft certain clauses, lead administrative tasks such as creating workspaces in our contract management technology platform Jaggaer, and acquire approvals and signatures per the Commitment Approval Policy. This role requires the individual to collaborate with multiple stakeholders including Sourcing Managers, various Business Stakeholders, Privacy, Security, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Finance, and the Legal department to ensure that all terms and conditions stated in contracts are in line with Loblaw’s strategic objectives.

Accountabilities

Demonstrate expert negotiation skills taking into consideration risk exposure, risk tolerance, company policy, and stakeholder feedback.
Proven ability to review complex agreements, vendor contract documents such as Statements of Work, and Loblaw standard contractual provisions.
Function as subject matter expert in application of risk tolerance and decision-making strategy.
Lead Business Stakeholders through recommended processes related to contract documents (termination requests, SLA language, scope commitments, breach incidents, etc.).
Serve as point of contact for all ongoing contractual matters between multiple stakeholders and legal.
Lead a team of one contract manager and one assistant contract manager.
Demonstrate expert knowledge in identifying functional area specific risks (e.g. privacy, security, insurance).
Assist with the development of contract summaries for Loblaw senior executives.
Analyze and verify that legal terms in high complexity contracts are in line with business and procurement objectives as well as legal requirements and policies.
Identify areas for improvement in existing contracting processes and independently determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
Manage special projects and other duties as necessary.
Perform administrative tasks, including opening and publishing Jaggaer contract workspaces to obtain approvals and signatures per the Commitment Approval Policy.

Legal background with some legal education and experience an asset
Experience in reviewing IT, Supply Chain and Global Sourcing contracts an asset
What you will need

5 – 8 years of contract management experience, including drafting and negotiating contracts
PC skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint, DocuSign, contract databases)
Understanding of procurement process an asset
Legal qualifications an asset
Knowledge of IT, Supply Chain, and Global Sourcing, an asset
