About the Role

As part of BOQ Group’s transformation journey, we are seeking multiple Senior Manager Line 1 Risk professionals to support a wide range of divisions including Technology, Business Banking, Transformation & Operations, Financial Crime Operations, Finance and People & Culture and our central Risk Governance & Analytics team. You will play a fundamental role in our transformation of building a stronger, more resilient bank by supporting the leadership team in facilitating risk management activities within the first line of defence.


As a Senior Manager Line 1 Risk, you’ll be responsible for driving a proactive risk culture across the specific division, enhancing the organisation's ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks. You will ensure that risk management frameworks and strategies are effectively integrated into business operations, strengthening the organisation's control environment, improving its risk position, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role also promotes innovative risk management solutions, aligning risk practices with the strategic direction and growth objectives of BOQ Group, overall.


Additionally you’ll be responsible for providing pragmatic risk advice, identifying risks, and supporting the business in removing complexity and driving a reduction in risk. You’ll deliver risk insights that aid management in decision-making, manage and advise on all Risk Management Strategy, supporting frameworks and standards, and deliver risk governance activities.


About you

To thrive in this role, you'll join us with previous leadership experience in complex organisations, ideally within financial services or a related industry. Ideally, you’ll hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Technology, Business, Risk Management, or a related field and/or professional certifications like FRM, PRM, or CPA. For our Technology roles, professional certifications covering ITIL, COBIT, CISA, CRISC, ISO200, PCI/DSS, CGEIT CDPSE, CISSP are also highly desirable. You're recognised as having a passion for driving risk outcomes, uplifting control environments and supporting organisations in enhancing their risk maturity. Experience leading a Risk function in either Technology, Business Banking, Transformation & Operations, Financial Crime Operations, Finance or People & Culture divisions will be highly advantageous.


Your track record in developing and implementing risk management frameworks will be crucial. You'll bring a strong understanding of risk management principles and practices, along with excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are key, as well as the ability to lead and inspire a team. Strong organisational and project management skills will also be important.
