About the team

As the way we shop continues to evolve, our Digital team keeps us at the cutting edge. This role is critical to the continuous delivery of The Coles Plus subscription service. As a senior engineer you will play a pivotal role in building GraphQL APIs that connect Coles plus to the new services. This work directly supports a key strategic offering with key deliverables needed to be met. The Coles Plus subscription service covers the cost of home delivery fees for online purchases over $50 from Coles. It also covers any applicable fees for Rapid Click & Collect orders.


Experience


Senior software engineer with at least 10 years’ experience
Commercial experience with GraphQL is essential
Expertise in React, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST APIs and other modern web technologies
At least 3 years’ experience leading a team of developers
Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms
Ability to drive and enforce software engineering practices
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Good exposure to Agile Scrum working environments
Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Great people person and excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities


Drive the engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelines
Facility Agile Scrum practices within the team, offer support to delivery managers in defining timelines and project requirements
Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards whilst empowering and developing the engineering team’s skills
Grow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a enjoyable working environment
Working collaboratively with the Business Stakeholders, and Business Programme Managers and Implementation partners to ensure delivery success
