Senior Tax Preparer

Pay: $40/hr-$50/hr

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Preparer to join our team for the current tax season, with strong potential for extension or full-time conversion. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a fast-paced public accounting environment and enjoys working directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including:
• Individuals (Form 1040)
• Partnerships (Form 1065)
• S-Corporations (Form 1120S)
• C-Corporations (Form 1120)
• Trusts and Estates (Form 1041)
• Conduct client interviews and gather necessary financial documentation
• Identify tax savings opportunities and provide strategic tax planning recommendations
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws and regulations
• Respond to notices and communicate with the IRS and state tax authorities as needed
• Mentor and support junior staff and interns during tax season
• Maintain accurate and organized client records within tax software systems
• Stay current on tax law updates and industry best practices

Qualifications
• 5+ years of recent tax preparation experience in a CPA firm or public accounting environment
• Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax regulations
• Proficiency with tax software such as Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, Drake, or similar
• Experience with accounting platforms like QuickBooks or Xero preferred
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
• CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or actively pursuing certification preferred
