PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Our dynamic Signals and Communications (S&C) team plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains. As an S&C Technician, you will be a key member of a high-performing team dedicated to maintaining S&C systems in alignment with established standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring the safe operation of trains throughout the territory. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing system malfunctions, performing critical repairs, and fine-tuning signal equipment to enhance reliability and uphold safety standards.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Utilize electronic testing tools to install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment issues
Diagnose equipment malfunctions down to the circuit board level
Collaborate with vendors to arrange repairs for faulty circuit boards and components
Operate computers to perform diagnostics, manage software-related tasks, and extract system logs
Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of equipment in compliance with industry standards
Create comprehensive reports documenting test results and inspection findings
Offer technical and field support for corporate data networks and other maintenance operations
Adhere to railway operating rules, safety protocols, policies, and best practices
Develop expertise in interpreting S&C circuit drawings and standards

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or general equivalency
Must be at least 18 years of age
Electronics/ Technologist training from a recognized technical college is a plus
Valid driver’s license
Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
Occasionally work away from home, frequently in remote and secluded location
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and concise information to team members and stakeholders
A strong emphasis is placed on adhering to safety protocols and maintaining vigilance to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:


Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
