Software Engineering Manager Consultant

Job description
A profitable fintech startup specializing in custom development work for financial firms around NYC is scaling. Their CTO needs to get away from the code and has an opportunity for a hands on software engineering manager.

This position will lead and manage a team of 10 offshore developers while while collaborating with a larger team. You'll dive into the details while overseeing the broader technological landscape. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C#, Python, and data-centric development, with hands-on experience in containerization and cloud.

NOTE: They are looking for someone who can be an Corp to Corp/10++ independent contractor. You will be paid directly by the employer and keep 100% of the compensation (no margin going to a recruiter)

Initial Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of 10 offshore software developers, ensuring high-quality code development and project delivery. You'll oversee the codebase, including conducting code reviews, enforcing coding standards, and integrating best practices for code management using GitHub.

Implement and maintain security measures, such as SSL for hosting and managing GitHub branching strategies.

Maintain and expand our technology stack, including the integration of Docker for containerization, MariaDB, DuckDB, and potential adoption of .NET technologies.

Longer term plans:

Spearhead the integration of AI technologies into our applications, leveraging data to enhance functionality and user experience.

Engage with in-memory databases and manage large data sets efficiently.

Facilitate the deployment and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes across Azure and AWS platforms.

Address and resolve complex technical challenges, demonstrating an ability to scrutinize code and architectural decisions.

Ideal Qualifications:

Proven experience as a software engineering manager or lead, with a strong technical mix of C#, Python, and data-centric development.

Experience managing offshore development teams.

Real world exposure with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS), GitHub, and AI integration.

Evidence of owning Docker containerization, SSL, in-memory databases, and CI/CD practices.

Familiarity with Blazor and WebAssembly, with the ability to navigate and innovate within new technology spaces.

Curiosity to ask thoughtful questions and engage in strategic, technical discussions.
