We are recognized in Alberta as a premier manufacturer and installer of circular, straight stair and decorative railing systems. We are currently seeking a Stair Assembler / Carpenter at our Calgary location.
Responsibilities:
The Stair Assembler will be required to work in a collaborative team environment setting up, operating and maintaining woodworking machines, such as planers, skill saws, planers, air nailers, staplers and saws in order to cut, plane, shape and sand wood to the required shape and size. Incumbents will be responsible for the accurate and timely construction, erection, installation and repair of circular and straight stairs and/or components of stairs made of wood, wood substitutes and other materials. Specific duties include:
Read plans and specifications to determine the requirements of the job
Cut materials with hand and power tools, and assemble or nail, cut and shape parts
Attach guides and other fittings to machines with clamps or bolts
Adjust stops, guides, rollers and the angle and height of the table
Select the direction and speed of rotation of wood to produce smooth finishes
Adjust parts to make sure that the work meets with requirements
Check work to ensure accuracy
Clean machines and work areas
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be physically fit and enjoy practical and manual work with an ability to lift and manipulate objects weighing 100 lbs. Proficient mathematical and analytical skills are necessary to perform accurate material estimates. Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades and/or carpentry background is preferred but not necessary. Successful incumbents will be detail-oriented.
