Job description
We are seeking a Synthesis Technician to join our dedicated oligonucleotide synthesis team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about learning and contributing to the synthesis processes and workflows. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training to independently perform synthesis tasks and assist senior team members with process improvements.
The role requires strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the Synthesis and broader Laboratory Teams. Attention to detail, time management, and excellent communication are key to success in this position.
Main responsibilities
· Perform oligonucleotide synthesis tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Perform work according to appropriate Work Instruction.
· Carrying out work as instructed by senior team members.
· Maintaining reagents for oligonucleotide synthesis processes.
· Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and equipment.
· Ensure compliance with all Quality and Health & Safety processes.
· Work as part of a small production team.
· Communicate well with wider Synthesis Team to ensure smooth running in the laboratories.
· Perform regular stock checks.
· Support a continuous improvement culture within the Synthesis Team.
· Carry out process improvement tasks as instructed by Team Leader or Senior Synthesis Scientist.
· Maintain excellent documentation of laboratory work.

Essential Skills and Expertise
· Excellent understanding of chemistry lab operations and equipment.
· Excellent understanding of Hazards associated within a busy chemistry laboratory.
· Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.
· Excellent communication skills.
Desirable Skills
· Experience of operating LCMS instrumentation.
Personal Qualifications
· A degree in chemistry or a related discipline.
