This position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of all equipment associated with utility plant and distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus.

Starts, operates, and shuts down boilers and their auxiliaries, chillers and their auxiliaries, generators and their auxiliaries, and all other necessary plant equipment from a central control room.

Responsible for the for the operation and monitoring of the 13.8 KV and 5KV electrical distribution system serving the UNMC/Neb Med campus.

Directs the activities and provides training to the Utility Operator I.

Performs preventative and routine maintenance as assigned.

Required And Preferred Qualifications

Required Education: High School education or equivalent If any degree major/training is required, please specify the type. (NOTE: Concentration and minors are not equivalent to a major)

(Will consider two years post high school education in a related vocational technical trade program/related experience)

Required Experience 2 years If any experience is required, please specify what kind of experience:

Experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure boilers and related equipment to include fundamental knowledge of industrial plant chilled water, steam, and electrical systems

Valid motor vehicle operator’s license

A valid City of Omaha 3rd, 2nd, or 1st Grade Stationary Engineer license
