Job Purpose:
To design, develop, and optimize immersive XR (AR/VR/MR) applications using Unity for the various surgical simulations, enabling high-fidelity simulation, surgeon training, workflow visualization, and advanced user-interaction modules. The role ensures the creation of intuitive, realistic, and performance-driven XR experiences that support product excellence and clinical training efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. XR Application Development
• Develop, test, and deploy XR applications using Unity 3D, C#, AR Foundation, OpenXR and related frameworks.
• Create realistic 3D interactions, physics-based simulations, and immersive user experiences for surgical robotics.
• Integrate and optimize shaders using High-Level Shading Language (HLSL) for advanced visual effects, lighting, and rendering.
• Integrate XR hardware such as Hololens, Meta Quest, Varjo, and HTC Vive for training and visualization use cases.
• Optimize rendering, loading, memory usage, and interaction performance for smooth real-time simulation.
• Collaborate with design teams to import, manage, and refine 3D assets, including robotic and anatomical models.
2. Simulation, Training & Visualization Modules
• Build XR modules for surgeon training, workflow walkthroughs, digital twins, and procedural simulations for MISSO 4000.
• Implement step-based guided instructions, interactive UI/UX, and multi-user collaboration features as required.
• Support clinical and product teams during demonstrations, usability studies, and validation sessions.
3. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
• Debug application issues across devices, platforms, and XR environments.
• Work with robotics, hardware, and software teams to ensure seamless integration with the MISSO 4000 ecosystem.
• Perform continuous testing to identify performance gaps and implement corrective improvements.
4. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain documentation for code, architecture, implementation steps, and development workflows.
• Prepare user guides, training materials, and technical notes for internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to company SOPs, data security protocols, and medical device software guidelines.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate with Robotics, Clinical, R&D, Product Management, and Quality teams to gather feedback and refine XR modules.
• Participate in internal validation, UI/UX reviews, and prototype testing before feature releases.
Provide technical insights supporting product development, engineering decisions, and market readiness efforts.
6. Customer & Internal Stakeholder Engagement
• Support internal demos, customer presentations, and clinical training initiatives through XR-based tools.
• Provide post-demo support, updates, and improvements based on user or clinician feedback.
• Ensure a high-quality, reliable XR experience that enhances surgeon confidence and system usability.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 4-8 years of hands-on experience in Unity 3D and XR application development.
• Strong understanding of AR/VR/MR frameworks, OpenXR, AR Foundation, XR Interaction Toolkit.
• Experience working with real-time 3D graphics, shaders, animation systems, and rendering pipelines (URP/HDRP).
• Hands-on experience with HLSL shader programming, rendering pipelines (URP/HDRP), lighting, and GPU optimization.
• Exposure to medical simulation, robotics, training systems, or industrial visualization (preferred).
• Experience with Git, Agile workflows, and cross-platform deployment.
Skills and Competencies:
• Proficiency in C#, Unity engine, and XR development tools.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
• Strong experience with HLSL shaders, rendering optimization, and real-time graphics
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and clinical teams.
• Creative problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and usability.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling tools (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max) is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site and support multi-functional development cycles.
