The Freehand Hospitality team is seeking an Event Sales Manager who is responsible for driving event sales by cultivating client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and overseeing the planning and execution of events. They play a key role in promoting the venue or event services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the entire process, from the initial inquiry to post-event follow-up. This role combines sales, customer service, and event management expertise to maximize revenue and deliver successful events.
As an Event Sales Manager, you’ll get to:
Responsible for selling available space at Freehand, including the Lower Deck and MMA areas.
Proactively sell Freehand spaces to maximize utilization.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase event bookings
Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
Cultivate relationships with potential clients
Respond to inquiries, provide detailed event information, and recommend event packages and services based on client needs.
Work closely with clients to understand their event requirements, goals, and budget.
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, ensuring repeat business and customer loyalty.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client needs, concerns, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Conduct site visits with potential clients to showcase venue options and services.
Prepare and present event proposals, negotiate pricing and packages, and secure contracts with clients.
Ensure all contracts are complete and aligned with company policies and client expectations.
Adhere to buyout policies for each specific location.
Create BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) as needed.
Act as a liaison between clients and the internal event planning/operations team to ensure smooth execution of events.
Assist clients with event logistics, and special requests.
Coordinate and oversee events, working closely with the event coordination team to ensure that all client requirements are met and that the event runs seamlessly.
Conduct pre-event meetings with the Event Manager to ensure smooth client handoff.
Collaborate with the catering team to develop collateral that supports the sales process effectively.
Delegate tasks to staff and monitor performance to ensure smooth event execution.
Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging seating, décor, lighting, and audiovisual equipment.
Monitor the condition and cleanliness of event spaces before, during, and after events.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients on the day of the event, addressing any questions or issues that arise.
Ensure that the client’s expectations are met and that the event runs smoothly.
Assist in preparing budgets for events, ensuring that the event stays within financial parameters.
Oversee billing and invoicing for events, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
Ensure that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed during events.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment by complying with health and safety regulations.
Represent the venue or event services at trade shows, networking events, and other marketing opportunities.
Stay updated on market trends and competitor offerings to adjust sales tactics and stay competitive
Prepare and present pipeline reports
Track and report on sales performance, customer feedback, and event success to senior management.
Gather feedback from clients after the event to continuously improve services
Address any post-event issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Use client feedback to improve future sales and event offerings.
Assist with referrals or testimonials to encourage future business.
Such other similar and related duties as required from time to time.
What we’re looking for:
Proven sales experience, preferably in the event management, hospitality, or venue industry.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and events simultaneously.
Knowledge of event planning processes and the ability to collaborate with event teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (such as Salesforce).
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary based on client needs.
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, hospitality, or a related field is an asset
Knowledge of event management software and booking systems.
Familiarity with industry trends and competitor offerings.
