As a Technical Officer at St Vincent's Health Australia, you will be an essential part of our pathology team, dedicated to delivering exceptional diagnostic services. Your role will involve executing a wide range of laboratory tests with precision and efficiency, maintaining equipment and supplies to the highest standards, and ensuring that all operations align with our rigorous quality control measures.
You will play a pivotal role in communicating critical results promptly, upholding safety standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our laboratory services. Your expertise will support both the clinical and operational aspects of our pathology unit, helping us to provide the best possible care for our patients and to uphold our reputation for excellence in healthcare.

What we're looking for:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a scientific or technical field related to pathology.
Demonstrated experience in laboratory testing and operations, preferably in Haematology / Transfusion.
Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, quality control, and quality systems.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to best practices.
What you'll do in this role:
Perform Laboratory Testing: Execute laboratory tests and other assigned tasks accurately and within designated timeframes.
Maintain Equipment and Supplies: Ensure that all laboratory equipment and supplies are well-maintained and functional.
Critical Result Communication: Promptly inform clinicians and relevant locations of critical and urgent results.
Quality Control Monitoring: Monitor quality control performance and report findings as necessary.
Quality System Maintenance: Perform tasks to support the maintenance and integrity of the laboratory's Quality System.
Safe Work Practices: Adhere to and promote safe work practices to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
Consultation and Supervision: Consult with supervisors or senior staff as appropriate and directly supervise less experienced staff as needed.
Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
Staff Training and Development: Assist in training new staff and participate in unit scientific and educational sessions.
