About our group | Mo te roopu

The Compliance, Monitoring and Enforcement Group helps everyone - from small businesses to big organisations - understand and comply with environmental regulations to help protect communities, the environment and people.

We do this through educating, engaging, monitoring and investigating, and taking enforcement action when necessary. This approach benefits the environment, the economy and communities, and means we can focus our resources (including our enforcement powers) on tackling the most important environmental issues.

Our multi-disciplinary team of compliance, monitoring and enforcement officers work together, supporting each other to carry out this essential role in maintaining and upholding New Zealand's environmental regulatory regime for the good of all of Aotearoa today, and for future generations.

About the role | Mo te tunga

We are looking for a highly organised Assistant Advisor to support our Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement teams.

As the Assistant Advisor you will manage and track the large information flow of documents and reports that come into the team, as well as distributing information, and managing correspondence (amongst other things).

Our ideal candidate would have experience working in a compliance environment and provided administrative leadership during key organisational programmes of work and within specific projects.

In addition, you will collaborate, coordinate and communicate both within the team and with our stakeholders, providing information, as required.

We are seeking self-motivated people who are keen to make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders.

We are looking for people who can bring some or all of the following skills:

Experience of operating in a compliance function

The ability to run or create smart efficient processes

Process orientated, have a close attention to detail and the ability to work to statutory deadlines

Confidence to work autonomously and organise own workload and co-ordinate this with others

Able to work and communicate with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organisation

Triaging and prioritising enquiries and notifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Reporting and analytical experience

Ideally would have some understanding and the ability to interpret legislation

Ability to research and find information as needed

A tertiary qualification

Salary range |

$64,430 - $96,646 per annum (midpoint $80,538).

This is the full salary range. Appointments are made within the range depending on skills and experience.
