Job Summary:

The Role:
The Region Services team redefines the way AWS designs, builds, and operates AWS regions to enable new AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Services offerings to customers across every industry and of every size, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Hire and develop the best Engineers at AWS by leveraging your technical ability to identify outcomes, design project plans, and drive the right actions to build the technical acumen of the team
Lead incident management processes and coordinate cross-team responses to service outages
Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and automation
Establish and maintain operational excellence standards
Drive root cause analyses, in collaboration with software development teams, as well as influencing local development to improve operational performance
Report on the health of these services

What We're Looking For:
5+ years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
2+ years experience as the systems engineering and operations leader in a 24x7 environment
Proven ability to write scripts and automate manual tasks
Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence
Proven track record of service improvement and optimization in production
Experience building tools and/or services with Java, Python or Perl
Database development/administration; NIX system administration
